According to royal author Tina Brown, after her and Prince Harry’s royal tour of Australia in 2018, Meghan Markle felt the royal family “needed her more than they needed her.”

Brown said Meghan felt her “star power” was “bigger than she was allowed to be in the monarchy”.

Britain’s Daily Express reported that the journalist added, “She had done the equivalent of a blockbuster movie and wanted her leading lady status to shine in the lights.”

The author appeared on 60 Minutes Australia in May and said: “It was something that shocked the royal family.

“Their tour of Australia was a wild success, more successful than Kate and William’s, in terms of crowds and modesty.

She announced her retirement from royal duties just a year after her visit to Australia.

Meghan and Harry stepped down from their royal duties in March 2020 for a new life in America.

The couple’s relationship with the royal family soured after their explosive interview with American TV legend Oprah Winfrey.

Prince Harry is also expected to target his family in his upcoming memoir, titled “Spear.”

His Netflix documentary series is expected to be released next month.

The couple reportedly delayed the release of Harry’s memoir due to Queen Elizabeth’s death.
