Great news! For international students, the Humboldt Research Fellowship 2024-2025 are fully funded bursary. Only post-doctoral studies are eligible for these awards. This fellowship comprises a monthly stipend of 3,150 EUR as well as supplementary funding for traveling companions’ families and personal things.
Long-term research stays (6–24 months) in Germany are made possible by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation for highly qualified foreign scientists and academics who are just starting their academic careers and who received their doctorates less than four years ago.
The study plan is executed in collaboration with academic hosts at German research institutions. Candidates select their own research topic and German host. Before submitting an application, specifics of the research proposal, including information on the fellowship’s expected duration, must be agreed upon with the proposed host. Sponsorship is not available for short-term trips taken for conferences, study, or training.

Applicants will receive the following benefits through the Humboldt Research Fellowship 2024-2025:
- A 2,670 EUR per month fellowship for postdoctoral researchers (with a degree obtained within the last four years). a 3,150 EUR per month fellowship for postdoctoral researchers (with a degree obtained within the last 12 years).
- Flexible start dates as well as the choice for seasoned researchers to divide the fellowship into a maximum of three stays.
- Over the course of the sponsorship, individual mentoring.
- Prior to the fellowship, fellows and their spouses took an intensive German language course.
- Once the research stay is over, complete alumni sponsorship may still be available, such as a Return Fellowship or additional stays in Germany, along with additional financial assistance for accompanying family members, travel costs, and other expenses.

Eligibility Requirements:
Applicant must fulfill the following requirements to avail of the Humboldt Research Fellowship 2024-2025:
- Both English and German are necessary.
- All nations in the world are eligible.
- Obtained in little more than four years, a doctorate or academic degree of similar standing (Ph.D., CSc, or equivalent).
- Academic works are published in journals or by publishing houses after being examined in accordance with international standards.
- A mentorship agreement, a thorough expert assessment, and confirmation of the availability of research facilities from an academic host at a German research institution.
- The application should be evaluated by the Ph.D. advisor and another academic who is qualified to comment on the applicant’s credentials, ideally from outside the applicant’s own university.
- For the humanities, social sciences, and medical fields, German is necessary; otherwise, a strong grasp of English is needed. The natural sciences and engineering fields require either a strong command of German or English.
- During the application and sponsorship phases, the Humboldt Foundation will presumptively hold candidates to the Rules of Good Scientific Practice and the legally binding standards of scientific ethics.

Applicants must follow the following procedures to apply for the Humboldt Research Fellowship 2024-2025:
(1). You must select two hosts (either individuals or institutions) and get their confirmation and approval of the research from them.
Note: If you select the institute as your host, you must schedule the time you will be there.

- Research Proposal (Up to five pages)
- Comprehensive list of works.
- A list of some important publications.
- Significant works.
- Doctoral diploma.
- If applicable, a certificate of German proficiency.
- Statement of the host and verification of the research facilities.
- Two expert assessments.
- Additionally, if required, summaries or translations of the significant publications, as well as the publisher’s acceptance letter(s) and/or receipt(s).
