Netflix dropped its highly anticipated. The Addams Family spin off, Wednesday, In which actress Gina Ortega is playing the lead role.
In an interview with entertainment tonight, Ortega shared how she felt about the surprise season finale.
“I expected it,” Ortega said. “I wasn’t too worried about it. I was just excited to see what she would do because reading something on a page is one thing. I’ve never done anything so fantasy-based, so I was wondering what it would look like.”
“I remember that day. Cristina [Ricci] Saying, ‘I have a gun in my hand and you tell me a fly lands on it and we decide not to shoot.’ There are a lot of logical things that you question, but then, with a show like this, it’s campy and fun and shouldn’t be taken seriously,” the 20-year-old actress clarified.
“Sometimes, you just have to shut down the logic and just let the imagination run,” Ortega explains, adding that knowing director Tim Burton he was signing off on every plot surprise , he was relieved. “I think his approval and everything, his oversight of everything was satisfactory.
When asked what she expects from her character now that the show has been renewed for a second season, Ortega said, “I want her to get deeper.”
“I want her to be more serious about things and not play things so safe, because she has a lot of lines about saving the school and doing whatever, but for me, that with the monster. The original campaign was one. The competition was kind of, ‘Man, how’s this guy doing it?’
Ortega added, “I think I want it to continue to be an anti-hero rather than a typical hero.”
